The Chief Minister and State Government
Each Indian state is governed by the Chief Minister (CM) and the State Government, which is responsible for administration, law enforcement, and policy-making. The Chief Minister is the head of the state government and is elected by the legislative assembly (Vidhan Sabha). The CM leads the Council of Ministers, which implements state policies and governs various sectors like education, health, infrastructure, and law & order. The Governor, appointed by the President of India, acts as the constitutional head of the state, but the real executive power lies with the Chief Minister and the State Government. Each state government works under the framework of the Indian Constitution and is accountable to the state legislature and the people.
