Lakshadweep
Lakshadweep is the smallest Union Territory of India by area, covering approximately 32 square kilometers. It is an archipelago of 36 coral islands, atolls, and reefs, located in the Arabian Sea. Known for its pristine beaches, turquoise lagoons, and rich marine biodiversity, Lakshadweep is a major hub for eco-tourism and fishing. The Union Territory is directly governed by an Administrator appointed by the President of India, as it does not have a legislative assembly. Its capital, Kavaratti, serves as the political and administrative center. Due to its strategic location and environmental significance, Lakshadweep plays an essential role in India’s coastal and maritime ecosystem.
