Srinagar (Summer), Jammu (Winter)
Jammu and Kashmir has two capitals, with Srinagar serving as the summer capital and Jammu as the winter capital. Srinagar, located in the Kashmir Valley, is known for its stunning landscapes, Dal Lake, and Mughal gardens, making it a popular tourist destination. It houses the state government offices during summer and is famous for houseboats, Shankaracharya Temple, and Hazratbal Shrine. Jammu, known as the “City of Temples”, serves as the winter capital and is home to the Vaishno Devi Temple, Raghunath Temple, and Bahu Fort. As the political and administrative center, Jammu hosts the government offices during the winter months. Well-connected by road, rail, and air, both cities play a crucial role in the cultural, religious, and administrative landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
